Have you ever wondered how virtual interior design actually works? You are not alone. Many homeowners love the idea of getting professional design help without the weight of the traditional high-end fees. They marvel at the idea of no more travel fees, no massive time commitments, and no more high hourly rates, problems most find with the traditional interior design process. But is it all too good to be true? Can you still truly get a beautiful design at the ease of your computer? Will your home still have the same polished look a traditional design process would provide? Will this process actually be personal or is some robot putting my designs together?
All these are great questions, and the good news is this: Virtual interior design can be incredibly personal, supportive, and effective when it is done thoughtfully and methodically. Not all edesign companies can answer yes to all the questions above. However, our process here at Bungalow House Studio brings an emphatic “yes”! Our mission is simple: we help families gain clarity and confidence in their homes so they feel complete.
We say “yes” so you can still get a beautiful design within the ease of your computer, with the same polished look, with an incredibly personal and thoughtful design NOT done by a robot. In fact, we invite you to meet our designer, Emma Maxwell.
With more than a decade of experience and a background that blends architectural training, retail curation, consulting, and virtual design, Emma Maxwell has created a warm and approachable design process that gives you expert guidance while still allowing you to stay in control of your budget and purchases.
Emma Maxwell graduated from Purdue University’s rigorous CIDA accredited Interior Design program, where she built the strong technical foundation that supports every project she takes on today. After earning her degree, she worked as an Architectural Designer and created a wide range of projects including luxury new build homes, high end kitchen renovations, and practical small space remodels.

Later, Emma became a design consultant at a local firm where she trained and supported other designers. While she enjoyed the technical side of design and the leadership role of consulting, Emma’s greatest joy always came from helping individual homeowners create a space that felt like their own.

It was when she experienced the emotional connection in her shop, Persimmon Avenue, that revolutionized her passion and guided her to realize the way she was going to bridge the gap in helping customers love their home, without the hassle of traditional processes that were keeping so many from a home they loved. She understood the transforming power of small, intentional, details used properly in the home.
Emma recognized the revolution happening online making interior design incredibly accessible to homeowners, but was it effective? This is what Emma wanted to get to the bottom to. So she began her research, working for giants in the industry. Those experiences gave Emma a clear understanding of edesign and the limitations that a large company has. She saw a missed opportunity when clients worked with bigger name companies, Emma was determined to take edesign service to the next level, empowering her client with more flexibility, more personalized service, and a much more thoughtful approach than a big company ever could.
Today, her work blends the technical precision of architecture, the personalized experience of retail, the clarity of consulting, and the flexibility of virtual design. All these components are brought together in just a few simple steps to make your home one you will absolutely love!
So how do you get started? It’s just 3 simple steps! Follow the steps below to get your project started with Emma at Bungalow House Studio today. Clarity and confidence in your home are within your fingertips!

Step One: Free Online Evaluation
Before any design work begins, take a free evaluation of your space. This evaluation brings understanding to your home by giving us insight as to what is not working in your home, what you want the space to feel like, your lifestyle needs, your personal style, your budget, and your priorities. This evaluation ensures that our services are a good fit for your goals and gives a clear starting point.

Step 2: Your Vision Your Needs
From there, we connect through email or a quick call to discuss your project details. This step is warm, simple, and meant to help you feel supported from the very beginning. Many clients say they already feel more clarity just by talking through their space with Emma. They felt she understood both the emotional and practical sides of design and particularly felt a new vision and excitement for their space before even starting the process!
“It’s been fun and exciting for me even from just this initial meeting. I appreciate Emma’s questions to try and understand my wants, likes, etc. I’m looking forward to moving through the process.”- Tammy | Living Room Client

Step 3: Gather Measurements
The measuring process is honest, simple, and stress free. We provide clear instructions and a template to follow, and if you prefer, Emma can guide you through the steps on a video call. You do not need to be tech savvy. You just need to follow a few easy steps, and we take care of the rest.
These measurements allow us to create a scaled floor plan, elevations, and, when needed, 3D visualizations so you can clearly see the potential of your space.
